Cuttack: Politics over resignation of Ravenshaw University vice-chancellor Prakash Sarangi over alleged undue ‘political interference’ has failed to die down with BJP challenging the vice-chancellor to openly name the political party and leaders interfering in the affairs of the varsity.
“The vice-chancellor is doing a drama. He (Sarangi) should openly tell the names of political leaders who are creating disturbances or interference in Ravenshaw matters,” said senior leader of BJP, Samir Dey.
Congress leader Mohammad Moquim on the other hand has blamed the Choudwar-Cuttack BDA MLA Prabhat Biswal for the irregularities and controversies at Ravenshaw University. However, Biswal has refuted the allegations levelled against him.
“I have no control rather doing my duty. The vice-chancellor should take action against the erring students,” said Biswal.
After a high voltage drama over the entire resignation row, Sarangi meanwhile again stirred the hornets’ nest today by stating that, “Like other educational institutions, there is also political interference in the affairs of Ravenshaw University. However, not a particular political party rather various political groups are active in the campus.”
Sarangi further said that, the entire responsibility of the management of the university should solely be given to the varsity authorities.

Earlier, Sarangi had tendered his resignation following students’ unrest and alleged political interference in the affairs of the varsity on February 6. However, Odisha Governor S.C. Jamir had refused to accept Sarangi’s resignation and had asked him to continue.
The vice-chancellor was also assured of full support from the administration in managing the premier educational institution of the state by Odisha Governor.
