Rebels set ablaze police outpost in Kandhamal
As per reports, around 50 heavily armed rebels, including women, went on a rampage and ransacked the police outpost.
The ultras set afire the building before disappearing into the contiguous forest shouting slogans against security forces and anti-naxal operations. However, no casualty was reported after the onslaught.
According to sources, the Maoists could have launched the offensive protesting against construction of new police buildings meant for security forces in the police outpost campus.
Meanwhile, additional force had been sent to the area and combing operation has been intensified in the region.
On the other hand, four Maoists involved in several crimes were arrested on Thursday and a huge cache of arms and explosives seized in Keonjhar district.
While three rebels were nabbed during combing by CRPF jawans and state policemen from Chutung forest near Rebana-Palaspal area, another ultra was apprehended from jungle in Telkoi area.
Six detonators, two gelatine sticks, batteries and wires, a country-made rifle, some ammunition and volumes of Maoist literature like leaflets, books and posters were seized from the ultras.
The arrested ultras have been identified as Bariel Murmu, Pandit Hembram, Dising Purti and Gokulanand Mahant.
