The three chariots or Raths of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Goddess Subhadra stand tall before the Srimandir in Puri, all set to take the deities to their destination, the Gundicha temple on the occasion of the world famous Rath Yatra.

 

Here are the details of each of the grand chariots:

 

Lord Balbhadra’s chariot: Taladhwaja

It is 45 Feet high and the length and breadth are 33 ft x 33 ft;

It has 14 wheels, each of 6 feet and 6 inches height

The Rath cloth is coloured green and red

It has 9 side idols and two door guard deities

It has four black horses

 

Lord Jagannath’s Nandighosha chariot:

It is 45 feet and six inches high and the length and breadth are 34 ft 6 inches x 34 ft 6 inches

It has 16 wheels, each of 6 feet

The Rath cloth is coloured yellow and red

It also has 9 side idols and two door guard deities

It has four white horses

 

Goddess Subhadra’s Debadalana chariot:

It is 44 feet and six inches high and the length and breadth are 31 ft 6 inches x 31 ft 6 inches

It has 12 wheels, each of 6 feet and 8 inches

The Rath cloth is coloured black and red

It also has 9 side idols and two door guard deities

It has four red horses
