Jajpur: In a gruesome incident, a father and her daughter were allegedly hacked to death over property dispute here in Nathi Sahi under Sukinda police limits, police informed on Monday. The duo has been identified as Dukhabandhu Mahanta and his widowed daughter Kanchan Mahanta.
According to reports, the dispute over partition of property deepened between Kanchan and her in-laws after demise of Kanchan’s husband. Once, the matter was also mediated by the local police.
Kanchan’s father Dukhabandhu used to frequent his daughter’s place which Kanchan’s in-laws took amiss to be instigating the latter.
Since the recovery of bodies of the duo, Kanchan’s in-laws have been absconding which has pointed the suspicion of their involvement in the case.
However, police was tightlipped to divulge any details.
Meanwhile, police have started investigating into the case.
