The depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal (BoB) is likely to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 12 hours. However, the system would have no impact on Odisha, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
As per the national weather forecasting agency's latest bulletin, the depression over BoB has moved north-northwest wards with a speed of about 15Km/Hr during the last 6 hours and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST on March 4 over the same region near latitude 8.9 degree North and longitude 82.9 degree East, about 180 km east of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 390 km southeast of Nagappattinam (Tamil Nadu), 470 km southeast of Puducherry (TN) and about 530km south-southeast of Chennai (TN).
It is likely to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 12 hours and may move north-northwest wards off the east coast of Sri Lanka till March 5 morning and then move west-northwest wards towards North TN coast during subsequent 48 hours, it said.
As per the IMD, the system has no impact on Odisha. "Dry weather prevailed over the districts of Odisha and dense fog occurred at one or two places over Jagatsinghpur district. The maximum temperature observed considerable rise at one or two places over south coastal Odisha. The temperature recorded over north interior Odisha and south coastal Odisha were normal and above normal," the IMD informed.
Moreover, the minimum temperature observed no big change over Odisha. The highest maximum temperature recorded was 37.0 degree Celsius at Titlagarh and the lowest temperature was recorded in Phulbani at 15.5 degree celsius. "The weather condition will prevail and will have no impact across Odisha," the IMD bulletin read.
