Voting for the third phase Odisha panchayat elections is currently underway in 63 blocks of 29 districts for 171 Zilla Parishad (ZP) zones and 1,382 Gram Panchayats (GPs) having 18,495 Wards in the State.
The State Election Commission (SEC) said that as many 2,773 booths have been identified as sensitive for the third phase polling.
Around 56.53 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in the third phase of the three-tier election. As many 679 candidates are in the fray for the ZP elections.
Elaborate security arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the polling in all the booths. Besides, the security arrangements have been heightened in the Maoist-affected areas going to the polls today.
