There seems to be no end to the blame game pertaining to the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Odisha.
In the latest instance, Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste on Friday alleged that massive irregularities have been committed in execution of the Centre's flagship housing scheme in Odisha.
Kulaste alleged Odisha government's favouritism in the allotment of the scheme and claimed that the deserving beneficiaries of the housing scheme have been deprived of its benefits.
“A central team from Rural Development Ministry had visited Odisha to investigate the alleged irregularities in PMAY. Based on their findings, it has been come to notice that massive wrongdoings have been committed in PMA Yojana in the State,” said Kulaste on the sidelines of the concluding ceremony of National Para-Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
“The Union government is formulating various schemes for the development of common people and those should be implemented properly. However in Odisha, people are not reaping the benefits of the initiatives," he said.
The Centre had set a target to provide houses to each and every beneficiary of the country as per the 2011 census. The government under the leadership of Prime Minister is trying its best for the successful fulfillment of the target, said the Minister.
“Hence, the State government shouldn’t resort to any kind of favouritism to strengthen its vote bank. The real beneficiaries should get the advantage of the scheme,” he added.
In response to Kulaste’s statements, no reaction from the State government has been obtained yet.
