The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bhubaneswar Aparajita Sarangi on Thursday launched a broadside against the Odisha government saying that the government has no way but to cover up its mistakes while carrying out the Srimandir Heritage Corridor project in Puri.

“The government has finally admitted it that mistakes were committed. They are now only covering up their faults. But the damage has already been done. It has now taken the shape of a Jan Andolan (people’s movement). Go to villages in rural areas and wards in urban areas and you can see what the people are thinking about the government for carrying out the project work by flouting the rules,” said Sarangi.

When asked about the CBI probe demand raised by Jagannath Sena, the Parliamentarian said there is no need of CBI inquiry as everything is open here.

“The necessity of CBI enquiry arises when something secret needs to be unearthed. But, here in case of Srimandir Parikrama project, everything is open. It is now known to all that Impact Assessment Study and Ground Penetrating Radar Survey were not done prior to carrying out the digging work,” she added.

No reaction from the government side is received as yet on the allegations of the MP. The story will be updated.
