Sambalpur violence: Intelligence letter reveals advance alert to police about communal tension 

In the letter, the SP was also informed that the rally would pass through Muslim-dominated areas like Bhutpada, Motijharan, Raza Nagar, Sunapalli, Kumbharpada, and Daliepada.

The Intelligence officials (Special Branch) had warned about communal tension in Sambalpur ahead of the violence that occurred during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. 

In the letter issued to the Sambalpur Superintendent of Police on April 11, the Special Branch SP had said that 600 members of Hanuman Jayanti Samanwaya Samiti have proposed to take out a bike rally at 3 pm on April 12. The rally will start from  Govindtola Petrol Bunk to Durga Mandir Gol Bazaar.
