Given the fact that less than 20 months left for the Lok Sabha elections, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started working on the ‘matras’ given by the central leaders including National President JP Nadda, who recently visited the state.
Starting from Nadda, all the leaders like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, national general secretary BL Santosh and in charge of Odisha affairs Sunil Bansal who visited the state have underlined that the organizations at 36,000 booths in the state have to be strengthened to see the dream of ruling Odisha come true.
Following the ‘booth management formula’ of the party, the booths have been graded as per the percentage of votes the party received in the last election.
The booths where the party received 30 per cent votes have been categorized as ‘C’. Similarly, the booths where 50 per cent, 70 per cent and above 70 per cent votes were polled have been identified as ‘B’, ‘A’ and ‘A+’ respectively.
During his visit, Nadda asked the party workers to work towards bringing up the booths before the elections. The workers have been tasked to bring the ‘C’ category booths up to ‘B’ category, ‘B’ booths to ‘A’ and ‘A’ booths to ‘A+’. They have been asked to strengthen the organisation as in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
As per its ‘Panna Pramukh Abhiyan’, one voter list will be assigned to one worker. Similarly, a worker will be responsible for five families. And, the workers will conduct a meeting at the booth office to analyse the progress of the tasks assigned.
After Nadda’s address, BJP MP from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi had said, “He said we have to win the election. He deliberated about how to manage the booths. Most importantly, he advised us to go to the people with the voter list.”
Similarly, BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan said the National president had discussed about the booth gradation and improvement of their grades.
In a nutshell, it can be said that the party has started its preparations to strengthen the party from booth, mandal and block levels, creating a negative wave against the government. While the party is preparing a charge sheet against the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party, it is also preparing a blueprint to take the central government’s successful yojanas to the people.
“It is the party workers who manage the election. In order to train them, he (Nadda) has formulated a plan. We are sanguine about our winning the elections,” observed BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan.
In its response, the conch party said they are not behind in strengthening the party from the booth levels.
“We have also started our preparations. We are analyzing what we have done, what we are doing and what we will do. At the same time, we will find out ways to deal with the problems at the grassroots level,” said government chief whip, Prashant Muduli.
