With the Naba Das murder case chargesheet details coming to the fore, the politics over the sensational case is heating up in the state.
The Crime Branch, which was investigating the high-profile murder case, had submitted the chargesheet in the court of JMFC, Jharsuguda on May 26.
Opposition Chief Whip, Mohan Charan Majhi alleged that the pre-planned murder allegations made by late Naba Das’ wife and son which are mentioned in the chargesheet are facts. But the Crime Branch concocted the Gopal Das story and its investigation started and ended with the dismissed ASI while ignoring the preplanned murder allegations, he added
“In the chargesheet, his (Naba Das’) wife and son stated that he was murdered in a preplanned manner. While their statements are true, the Crime Branch didn’t do its investigation from that angle. The investigation started with Gopal Das and also ended with Gopal Das,” alleged Majhi.
Congress also brought the same allegation.
“The allegation made by Naba Babu’s wife that he had many enemies is a fact. Her allegation that he was murdered in a preplanned manner is true. I think the police didn’t get any clue to do the investigation from that angle. Even after submitting a 500-page chargesheet, their investigation is still on,” said Congress leader, Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
“I don’t know whether someone is being protected or not, but I am sure that the angle of the investigation is being prevaricated. We will raise the issue in the coming session of the Legislative Assembly,” he added.
Notably, BJP MP from Bargarh, Suresh Pujari had on Friday accused the Crime Branch of being hand in glove with the state government and hiding the truth instead of unraveling it.
However, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) termed the pre-planned murder allegations leveled by the BJP and Congress as baseless.
“It was not a case of pre-planned murder. If the family is claiming that it was a pre-planned murder case, it has been looked into in the investigation. In the state, the BJP’s job has been reduced to talking only,” said BJD MLA, Parshuram Dhada.
