Angul city has taken centre stage today with three Union Ministers, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi, and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visiting the city today for several programmes.

The three Union Ministers are scheduled to take part in three programmes-inauguration of Angul-Balaram new railway line, the flagging off of Sambalpur-Shalimar-Shambalpur Express and ‘bhumi pujan’ ceremony of the permanent campus of a Central School.

The 14-km-long Angul-Balaram New Railway Line will provide facilities for freight transportation, especially coal, to the country's different industries and powerhouses and will add additional revenue for the Nation. Similarly, the express train between Sambalpur and Shalimar via Talcher-Dhenkanal & Bhadrak will fulfil the aspirations of the people, especially travelling passengers.

For the scheduled visit of three Union Ministers and Chief Minister today, a kind of poster war is being seen in the city with posters of both the parties dotting the city.

As per the political analysts, both parties are leaving no stone unturned to show their strength ahead of the general election 2024.

Besides joining the programmes at Angul Railway station, the CM will also attend a programme at Angul stadium and lay the foundation stones of several projects.

“Since it is a government programme, the CM might have been invited. Though he (Naveen Patnaik) is not seen in any programme, he is attending the programme apparently thinking that the BJP would take the entire mileage,” said Angul district BJP president, Dileswar Pradhan.

Notably, the Union Railway Minister will lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited vital Railway project “Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station” at Bhubaneswar.
