The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s main aim is to topple the BJD government and save Odisha from going to rack and ruin, said the saffron party’s State Kisan Morcha president Pradeep Purohit at the State-level training camp in Puri on Wednesday.
Highlighting the party’s strategy, Purohit also hinted that the fight against the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha will be fiercer than what West Bengal is witnessing.
“Our fight in Odisha will be stronger than the one we are fighting in West Bengal. The workers of the BJP would never budge. They would fight a fierce battle. The party would give a call of ‘do or die’. For this, a roadmap is being prepared,” informed Purohit.
“Our fight is not to come to power but to save Odisha. If our party doesn’t come to power and if the BJD is not toppled, Odisha’s art and culture and financial condition will be in peril. We have already taken a vow. Our sole aim is to topple the BJD government,” added Purohit.
Briefing about the ongoing camp, MP Aparajita Sarangi said, “Top leaders are visiting the camp in phases and advising us. Working committee members and officials from all the 36 organisational districts are taking part in the camp. We are here at the camp to learn something. Yesterday, we had discussions on how to make the party stronger from grass root level. I hope we will have good results from the camp.”
Speaking about the party’s strategies, MP Jual Oram said, “We are increasing our organisational strength. In last elections, we had given a tough fight to the BJD, setting a target of 120 plus. However, that couldn’t be achieved. This election, emphasis would be given to ensure a good performance. For that, all of us are working seriously.”
Throwing down the gauntlet to the BJD, Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu said, “If they (BJD) name their 22 best achievements in as many years, I would leave politics for good.”
“There are hoardings across the capital city whereon it is written ‘25 years in service’. It would be better if written ‘25 years in looting’,” Tudu said wryly.
Reacting to the BJP leaders’ statements, BJD MP Munna Khan said, “The challenge before them is to save their eight Lok Sabha and 22 Assembly seats and then only dream about forming government. People at the grass root level are very much with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. So they will give their votes to him.”
Notably, the saffron party’s three-day-long training camp was inaugurated in Puri yesterday. While senior party leaders and district level leaders are taking part in the meeting, central leaders including Odisha Pravaris Sunil Banshal and D Purandeswari will visit the camp.
