Covid infected persons having no symptoms or mild symptoms will no more have to rush to medicine stores or depend on health workers for vitamin tablets required for the disease as the student wing of Odisha Congress has announced to distribute the same at the doorstep of patients in the Twin Cities free of cost.
The service has been launched for those who are under home quarantine in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, State Chhatra Congress president Yasir Nawaz said.
The programme commenced today will continue till May 20, he added.

The party has launched two dedicated helpline numbers for the patients to avail services. A toll-free number -1800-257-2656 which has been launched for registration while a WhatsApp number (9937696969) has been released to share the patient’s details.
The registration for the initiative will begin at 9 am and will continue till 3 pm, party sources said.
“We have taken the initiative to provide vitamin tablets to Covid positive patients at the doorstep. We request the infected persons to use our dedicated contact numbers to avail the services. They can register their names through our toll-free helpline number and send their positive report and home address to our WhatsApp number,” Nawaz said.
“Workers of the Chhatra Congress will immediately reach them with the vitamin tablets, he added.
The noble initiative has been taken in view of the rising trend in coronavirus cases in the Twin Cities.
Most of the patients having mild symptoms are being treated at home in consultation with medical experts.
The service launched by the Chhatra Congress will be more beneficial for poor patients especially those who can’t afford to purchase medicines. from private stores, party sources said.
The Capital city Bhubaneswar has been witnessing a steady surge in the daily covid cases for the last several days.
The city continues to remain as the worst-hit urban centre with the maximum number of positive cases in the State.
Similarly, Cuttack has become a new hotspot of Covid-19 registering around new 1000 cases every day.
