With Odisha all set to go for three-tier Panchayat polls starting February 16, candidates are leaving no stone unturned to vanquish opponents by coming up with novel ideas to woo voters in favour of them.
Kalpana Mahana, who will be trying her luck in the election as a Sarpanch candidate from Kusuda panchayat under Bhogarai block in Balasore district, has started door-to-door campaign in a unique way.
With a fish in her hand, which is her symbol in the election, Kalpana is pledging the voters to cast their franchise in support of her.
“As my symbol is fish in the election, I am moving from door-to-door holding a fish and seeking out support from voters. If I come to power, I will definitely work towards the betterment of our panchayat,” said Kalpana Mahana.
Similarly, Durgamani Jena who has filed her nomination for Samiti Member post from Kusuda panchayat is trying to win the confidence of the voters with a kettle in her hand.
Speaking to OTV, candidate Durgamani said, “I am roaming door-to-door holding kettle and urging people to cast vote in favour of me."
Likewise, Nrusingha Patra, who will be contesting as a ward member from Lochapada panchayat under Kukudakhandi block in Ganjam district, is distributing pens among voters during her campaign.
“Pen is my symbol in the election and it is mightier than the sword. I am hopeful that I will emerge victorious in the polls,” said Patra.
