State Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari on Wednesday presented the interim budget for the financial year 2022-23 with a provision of Rs1.10 lakh crore for programme expenditure.
Out of the Rs1.10 lakh crore, Rs1 lakh crore has been allocated for government sector and the remaining Rs10,000 crore for other sectors.
While an allocation of Rs3,200 crore has been made for natural disaster management, Rs12,200 crore has been allocated for Health sector.
Similarly, Rs1,864 crore has been provided under the scheme of Bijua Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for free medical facilities to over 96 lakh economically vulnerable families in the State.
For the several programmes under Mission Shakti, a provision of Rs2,000 crore has been made while Rs1,039 crore has been extended for the National Livelihood Mission. A provision of Rs773 crore has been made towards financial assistance to self help groups (SHGs) and their federations while Rs176 crore for construction of Mission Shakti houses and Rs 26,492 crore for Education and Skill Development sectors have been made.
At the same time, Rs20,344 of sectoral outlay for different schemes to boost productivity, farmers’ income and welfare has been made. For KALIA scheme, an allocation of Rs 1,874crore has been made.
Pujari told the House that the Russia-Ukraine war has affected the world economy to a large extent. Despite that, there is a possibility of a growth in the gross domestic product (GDP). India’s GDP growth has been estimated at 7.8 percent. In contrast, Odisha’s GDP may increase by 9 to 9.5 percent, he said.
The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth of Odisha is expected to be over 12 percent during the financial year 2022-23, Pujari said, adding the State has been receiving successive revenue surplus since 2005-06.
