Odisha government on Tuesday approved 17 proposals including a drinking water project. This has been revealed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Niranjan Pujari after the meeting was held.
Briefing the media about the decisions taken by the cabinet, Pujari said “Drinking water project proposed by the cabinet would meet needs of 15 panchayats in Rayagada, 31 panchayats of Koraput. Besides, seven panchayats under Ramnaguda block in Rayagada and eight panchayats of Kolanara block will have access to drinking water under the project.”
That apart, the cabinet has approved to set up a Dharmasala worth Rs 135 crore for the sake of tourists in Puri district. Cabinet has also given its nod to make Baselisahi-based Dharmasala functional. The Dharmasala project will be executed under Abhada scheme. The state government has roped in Sriji Krupa through tender for the project. The agency is supposed to complete Dharmasala project in 24 months.
Pujari also informed media that the state cabinet has approved IT policy. In a bid to boost investment and attract employment in the IT sector, the companies will be provided 25 per cent of the total investment. Laos, eligible IT farms will be given 30 per cent rebate of their investment for infrastructure development.
It is learnt that the cabinet meeting was held in virtual mode under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Going by the policy, 25 per cent of fixed capital investment will be provided as capital subsidy limited to Rs 20 crore.
Besides, 15 per cent of the cost of developing solar power plant subject to maximum of Rs 25 lakhs will be reimbursed. Greenfield IT Parks would be made eligible for complete reimbursement of stamp duty or registration fee or conversion fee.
Moreover, 30 per cent of fixed capital investment in building and infrastructure, excluding the cost of land will be accorded to eligible IT units. Eligible IT units will be entitled to get an interest subsidy at 5 per cent year on term loans availed from recognised financial institutions and banks, subject to a maximum of Rs 10 crore per year for 5 years from the date of commencement of commercial operation.
Besides, entrepreneurs will avail exemption of electricity duty and electrical inspection fee for 5 years. There will be reimbursement of electricity tariff at 30 per cent for three years capped at Rs 35 lkah per unit.
