State President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samir Mohanty on Thursday lashed out at the Odisha government alleging that the government has drastically failed to provide better healthcare facilities to common people.
While addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of World Health Day, Mohanty launched a scathing attack at the government while demanding implementation of Centre's Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
“It is quite unfortunate that the Naveen Patnaik-led government has failed in providing better healthcare facilities to the people. On the occasion of World Health Day, I would like to request the State government to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, promote Pradhan Mantri Janausudhi Centres so that people will get medicine at a comparatively cheaper rate and implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana,” Mohanty said.
Mohanty also expressed his displeasure for the cancer hospital being still in paper.
He said starting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to other Union Ministers has requested the State government to implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana on several occasions, but the State government is still sticking to its guns.
Taking the opportunity of World Health Day, Mohanty reiterated the same demand once again. It has been eight years since the Central government launched the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in a mission mode with a slogan ‘One Nation, One Health System’ for 134 crore people, Mohanty informed.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is yet to come up with its reactions.
