Amid reports of intrusion attempts by the neighbouring states, the Opposition parties on Saturday came down heavily on the Odisha government alleging that the State government has failed to safeguards its territory.
“The neighbouring states have made attempts to intrude into Odisha on various occasions. Unfortunately, the State government has failed to safeguard its territory,” alleged Bhrugu Baxipatra, vice-president of Odisha BJP while addressing a presser today.
He alleged that the ruling BJD government has not taken any measures to protect its borders in its 20 years of rule.

Speaking about reopening of an Anganwadi centre in Gajapati district by the Andhra Pradesh government recently, the BJP leader alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has never held a meeting with the CMs of the neighbouring states to resolve the border dispute.
Informing about the formation of a committee for protection of the border areas, the BJP demanded the Odisha government to carry out border survey.
Besides, Congress MLA Suresh Routray termed the intrusion attempts by the neighbouring states as alarming and demanded the government to not sit idle and take measures in this regard.
Reacting to the allegations of the Opposition parties, BJD MP Subhas Singh said, “The State government, with utmost seriousness and sincerity, is doing whatever necessary to safeguard its territory.”
It is noted that several officials and Andhra Pradesh Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Minister Dr Appalaraju on September 9 reopened an anganwadi centre at Manikpatana village, just three days after it was sealed by the Odisha government.
Similarly, Balasore administration recently stopped an unauthorised construction of boundary wall by the West Bengal government at Udayapur beach under Bhogorai block in the district.
