Pouring cold water on the efforts of Andhra Pradesh government to encroach the Kotia border area in Koraput district, the denizens of the area snubbed the Deputy Chief Minister and officials of the neighbouring state on Friday.
As per reports, Andhra supported independent candidate Tikai Gemel had won the Zilla Parishad election from the seat. A team from the neighbouring state led by newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister P Rajan Dora visited the area to celebrate the victory of Gemel. They had thought that the newly elected Zilla Parishad member and his supporters will extend their support and helping hands to the Andhra team.
However, the villagers opposed the team from the neighbouring state vehemently by saying that Andhra is only concerned in fulfilling their own desires by giving false assurances to the people in the area. Following strong opposition from the local people, the snubbed Andhra officials along with Deputy CM Dora had to return from the area immediately.
“The Andhra officials have given us many false promises for their own narrow motives. But they have never bothered to fulfill those promises,” said a villager.
“In a latest instance, they had given work orders to several farmers in the area to dig ponds. The poor farmers somehow managed to dig those ponds by spending money from their pockets. However, the amount is yet to be reimbursed in their accounts,” he said.
