Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday distributed smart health cards among the beneficiaries in Angul and launched several developmental projects worth Rs1,176 crore in the district. However, Opposition Congress staged a black flag protest opposing CM's visit.

The Chief Minister gave away smart health cards of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to some beneficiaries at a special programme held in Angul district. Describing the district is famous for industries and even more popular for Baji Rout hostel and ‘sadhana petha’ of former Chief Minister Nabakrushna Choudhury and his wife Malati Choudhury, he said, in a video message, that he was delighted to launch several projects worth Rs1176 crore. This will help speed up the district’s progress.
“We have given emphasise on providing pure drinking water to the people. It gives me immense pleasure that more and more people are showing interest in taking up agriculture. As many as 3,000 new farmers have been added to the existing number which will secure the agriculture sector,” he stated.
“The district has been included as a district covered under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Smart Health Card Yojana. Around 10 lakh people are going to be benefitted from this scheme,” he added.
“Launched on September 1, the card will be given to 96 lakh families while around 3.5 crore people will be benefited. The beneficiaries will get free treatment facilities in over 200 medicals in the country. The annual converge for a family and women are Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively. He termed it as a milestone in the whole nation. The families can spend the money saved this way in giving their children better education facilities. For me each and every life is important, whether he lives in towns or in villages,” he added further.
