Candidates of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have intensified their campaigning efforts as the campaigning for Brajrajnagar by-elections will end on Sunday.
Candidates and prominent leaders of the leading political parties in Odisha are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters in the poll-bound assembly constituency. Even prominent and senior leaders of all the three parties are pulling out all stops to solicit the support of the voters for their respective candidates.
BJP candidate Radha Rani Panda conducted door-to-door campaigns in different villages under Lakhanpur block. Top saffron party leader like Surama Padhi and Sabita Nanda campaigned for their party candidate. Even senior leader Pradip Purohit and actor-turned-politician Pinki Pradhan also joined the general meeting and procession in Brajrajnagar.
"BJP is not distributing money, but people are interested to take part in the procession and attending the meetings. This time, they have decided to extend their support to BJP and I am confident that people will keep extending their support to our party till the elections," said Pradip Purohit.
Meanwhile, BJD's candidate Alaka Pradhan also campaigned in Lakhanpur area. She was accompanied by several prominent and senior leaders of the party. The ruling party had organised several meetings and processions. Many party leaders including ministers campaigned for their candidate.
"People in large have extended their support to us. The voters are daring the scorching heat to stand with us. We will visit door-to-door to learn about the issues faced by the residents of Brajrajnagar and leave no stone unturned to resolve those," said Alaka Pradhan.
Similarly, OPCC chief Sarat Patnaik, senior party leaders including MLA Narsingha Mishra and Tara Bahinipati campaigned for their candidate Kishore Patel. They appealed to the voters to extend their support to their party candidate and make him victorious. The party had also organised a grand procession and a general meeting in Belapahada.
"The voters of Brajrajnagar are considering our party candidate Kishore Patel who is a former assembly speaker and a former minister. He is an intelligent person and quite popular. Not just Brajrajnagar, he is quite popular across Odisha. The voters are quite excited to have him as a candidate," said Sarat Patnaik.
