Asserting Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) dominance in the upcoming general elections in 2024, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra on Thursday said they will form the next government in the State.

The statement came at a time when the saffron party is in a training mode with several central bigwigs joining a 3-day workshop to instill winning mantra into the party members.

Speaking to reporters at the penultimate day of the workshop, Mishra said, “BJP will certainly form government in Odisha in 2024. We are planning to win the required amount of seats to form the government. We will provide Odisha the much needed change it needs through a double-engine government.”

Asked about Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) winning streak in every election, Mishra said, “Everybody knows how Naveen Patnaik wins elections. It’s the government machinery and truckloads of money which work for BJD during elections. In almost all constituencies, they capture booths with the help of local police who work as BJD goons in the elections.”

Notably, the saffron party’s three-day training camp was inaugurated in Puri on Tuesday. While senior party leaders and district level leaders took part in the meeting, central leaders including Odisha Pravaris Sunil Banshal and D Purandeswari visited the camp.

Today National General Secretary, BL Santosh, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh are scheduled to address the party members before concluding the workshop.

On day-2 of the session (Wednesday), party’s State Kisan Morcha president Pradeep Purohit had said the fight against the BJD in Odisha will be fiercer than what West Bengal is currently witnessing.

Speaking about the party’s strategies, MP Jual Oram said, “We are increasing our organisational strength. In last elections, we had given a tough fight to the BJD, setting a target of 120 plus. However, that couldn’t be achieved. This election, emphasis would be given to ensure good performance. For that, all of us are working seriously.”
