With 2024 general elections in mind, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to have buckled up by organising a 3-day workshop for its members in the pilgrim town of Puri.
The first day of the workshop which began on Tuesday saw leaders like D Purandeswari, Sameer Mohanty, Pratap Sarangi and National Training In-Charge Hemant Goswami taking classes of the members. The workshop on day-1 was attended by all the MPs, MLAs, office bearers, district presidents and presidents of several morchas.
The primary agenda on day-1 of the training session was to activate the IT cells more and ways to bring welfare schemes of the Central government to the people at grassroots level. As per reports, it was a two-way workshop and the Central leadership had to face many questions from the BJP members in Odisha.
Speaking to reporters, former Odisha BJP In-Charge, D Purandeswari said, “The training sessions are vital for our organization. The primary focus of any training session is to take the party forward. So this was no exception.”
As per reports, Odisha BJP In-Charge, Sunil Bansal will address the party members on day-2 of the session (Wednesday), and train them on the Uttar Pradesh formula that saw a landslide victory for the saffron party in UP.
Similarly, the National General Secretary of the BJP, BL Santosh will attend the penultimate day of the workshop on Thursday to train the members on how to get on a winning streak.
With the BJP already beginning its preparations for the next general elections, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress have negated any effect of the workshop on the election results.
BJD MP, Munna Khan said, “The BJP holds a lot of such training sessions when the election nears. They had held such sessions before the last election too. It hardly affects the results.”
“I am sure, this time around they will score even less than last elections,” asserted Khan.
Veteran Congress MLA, Suresh Routray said, “These training workshops are useless. I can predict the next general elections. I am sure Narendra Modi will never return to power at the Centre and in Odisha, Congress will emerge as the only competitor of BJD. BJP will be wiped out of the State.”
On the heels of the training workshop, it has been reported that BJP President JP Nadda will visit Odisha on September 29.
