BJP demands action against BJD MLA’s relatives over 'assault' of Chandbali BDO

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has targeted the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after Chandbali MLA Byomakesh Ray’s brother-in-law and father-in-law allegedly attacked the Chandbali block development officer (BDO) recently. 

The BJP wanted to know why the police are not taking any action against the legislator’s relatives who resorted to hooliganism. 

“Even after several days of the incident, the police are neither taking any action against them nor questioning them. Most importantly, in the FIR, it is clearly mentioned that they attacked the BDO with a criminal conspiracy to eliminate him. Just because of being the brother-in-law and father-in-law of the legislator, are they above the law?” asked State BJP spokesperson, Anil Biswal. 

Meanwhile, Chandbali BDO Jyotibikash Das clarified that he wouldn’t withdraw his police complaint. 

“I have lodged a police complaint and I would never withdraw it,” said BDO Das. 

When contacted Chandbali sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Debi Shankar Pratap over his phone, he said, “On the basis of the CCTV footage, the investigation is going on. Appropriate legal action will be taken against the guilty ones.”
