The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party in Odisha on Friday stepped up the attack on the 5T Secretary over his visit to Sambalpur and Nayagarh districts.
The saffron party opposed the 5T secretary’s visit to Sambalpur. MLA Nauri Nayak while addressing a press conference alleged that the officer is doing party programmes by spending government money.
“Crores of rupees is being spent for organising a meeting. People are being paid to attend the meeting. He is traveling in a helicopter. Thus, the money of 4.5 crore people of Odisha is being misused. We strongly condemn this,” said Nayak.
Similarly, the grand old party objected to the 5T secretary’s Nayagarh visit. Going to term the visit as illegal, the party said 10 demands have been placed before the government and instead of addressing them; the 5T secretary visited the district.
“Doing politics while simultaneously receiving government money is not possible. The 5T secretary’s visit can be said illegal. And his announcing grants without having power thereof is not a good sign for democracy. I am surprised seeing how the leaders of the Biju Janata Dal are doing politics,” said Congress spokesperson Nishikant Mishra.
No reaction could be obtained from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in this regard.
