A video purportedly showing cash being distributed to a voter by two BJD candidates for the forthcoming Panchayat polls at Chandabali block in Bhadrak district has gone viral on various social media platforms.

As per reports, the person concerned purportedly distributing cash in the video is said to be a Zilla Parishad candidate of the ruling BJD named Prince Rakesh Nayak.

The video shows Nayak allegedly giving cash to an old man during the party campaigning. BJD supported Sarpanch candidate Abhimanyu Jena was also present in the campaign where the money was distributed.

Some local denizens alleged that both Nayak and Jena were distributing money to persuade people to vote for them in the forthcoming Panchayat polls.

However, BJD leader Nayak refuted the charges of cash distribution. “I am not at all involved in any kind of act like distributing money to the voters. The charge is false, baseless and fabricated,” said Nayak.

Meanwhile, campaigning for the upcoming Panchayat polls has intensified across the State with some candidates adopting innovative ways to attract voters.

A female Sarpanch candidate named Bhagabati Bhatra in Patri Gram Panchayat under Papadahandi block in Nabarangpur was seen trying to woo voters by holding a fish in her hand during door-to-door campaigning.

“I have been allotted fish as my election symbol by the State Election Commissioner. Therefore, I am holding the fish in my hand while campaigning to attract voters to vote for me,” said Bhatra.
