The death of a girl student of BJB College seems to be getting more complicated with each passing day. On Monday, the proceedings of the State Assembly adjourned till 11:30am following a ruckus in House over the death of the girl. The Opposition’s protests prompted the Minister of State (Home) to take a call on it before the end of the House proceedings.
Notably, Ruchika Mohanty committed suicide and her body was found hanging in hostel on July 2.
When the Assembly proceedings began, both BJP and Congress raised the student issue seeking a CBI investigation into the incident. As a result, the Speaker had to adjourn the proceedings till 11.30am. Due to protests by the Opposition, the question and answer session of the House was not held, sources revealed.
It is learnt that though three days have elapsed to the incident, police are yet to identify the so-called seniors who are alleged to have forced Ruchika to take the extreme step by ragging her. Be it the Higher Education Minister or the School and Mass Education Minister, none have paid a visit to the deceased’s parents to console them.
According to sources Higher Education Minister is suffering from fever. Though a group of students protested outside his residence, it went in vain.
On the other hand, parents of the deceased and BJB College students have been staging a dharna in front of the college demanding a CBI investigation into the case. Besides, they demanded identification of the accused and stringent action against them.
Ruchika’s mother said, “I will sit here till my daughter is not given justice. I will not give up till police find out three senior students about whom my daughter had mentioned in her suicide note. The college authorities are also behind it. Police have to bring out to the fore and take against the accused.”
It may be mentioned that in her suicide note, the deceased student had mentioned that she ended her life as three senior students had been harassing her mentally.
The deceased’s father Ganeswar Mohanty accused the college authorities of shielding the three students who are responsible for his daughter’s death.
Meanwhile, the BJB college authorities have formed a seven-member committee to get into the root of Ruchika’s suicide and find out the seniors responsible for her death.
BJB Principal Niranjan Mishra said, “We have formed an inquiry committee comprising seven members so that we can get into case and bring out the truth. Also, we are cooperating with police completely.”
