Police nabbed two Inter-state gang members

Jajpur: Two weeks after the dacoity involving loot of gold ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh, two of the 16-member inter-state gang involved in the crime were arrested today, police said. Around sixteen armed dacoits looted gold from Krishna Jewellers after injuring four persons at Bank Street in Jajpur Road on November 24.

A special squad led by Jajpur Superintendent of Police arrested two dacoits from Murshidabad with the help of West Bengal police. The arrested have been identified as Anul Bari (36) and Jahangir (36), both belonging to Kheramadi under Jalendi police station of Murshidabad district.

The police also seized around 200 grams of gold ornaments from their possession. The seized article is valued approximately at Rs 5.5 lakh, police said. Jajpur SP Deepak Kumar told reporters that the arrests were made following pictures received from CCTV footage.

The special team raided Kheramadi village with the help of West Bengal police and managed to nab two dacoits of the gang. "We brought the duo here under remand. The accused have also confessed about committing the dacoity along with other members of their gang. We are also searching to nab other criminals involved in it," said SP Kumar.
