OPTCL GM caught accepting bribe
Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught a general manager of the state-owned Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.30 lakh from a private company.
Raj Kishore Mohapatra, general manager of OPTCL was caught red handed by the sleuths while accepting a bribe Rs 1,30,000 from the complainant as per previous demand, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Trinath Patel said.
"Mohapatra was taking a bribe for approval and issuance of original drawing for an electrical job," Patel said adding that based on the information of the complainant a trap was laid by the officers of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division in the office room of the general manager.
The bribe amount Rs 1, 30, 000 was recovered from the working table of Mohapatra and seized in presence of witnesses. His both hand wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe, Patel said.
Mohapatra has been arrested and investigation in the case was in progress.
Similarly, the anti-corruption sleuths also arrested an officer of the Orissa Administrative Service (OAS) on corruption charge.
Nirakar Parida, Tehsildar, Soro in Balasore district, was arrested after vigilance sleuths recovered bribe money of Rs 20,000 from his possession.
Parida was taking bribe for renewal of Stone quarry license. In course of investigation a trap was laid in which he was caught.
