Udhagamandalam (TN): A star attraction of the summer festival, the 116th Ooty Flower Show opened at scenic botanical gardens here the famous hill resort town here today with sand sculptures created by famous artist Sudarsan Pattnaik finding place in the event for the first time.

A bust of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and the state government`s official symbol temple Tower, created in sand, are among the cynosures at the three-day show inaugurated by state Agriculture Minister S Damodaran.

Another highlight was the sand sculpture depicting the ill effects of global warming with the theme `flowers bloom, earth smiles,` created amidst 10,000 flower pots of different varieties, colour and shades. The show also has a `Nilgiri Tahr` and Tiger made of over 4,000 Coronation flowers.
