A youth from Odisha performing Surya Namaskar and different asanas of Yoga outside the Tunganath Temple located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand under extreme conditions has been garnering praises from all quarters.
The video of the youth, Dibakar Arya, a resident of Nurpa village under Manmunda Panchayat of Boudh district, has gone viral on several social media platforms.
In the video, Dibakar can be seen performing Surya Namaskar, a Yogic posture offered as salutations to the Sun God and several Yoga asanas with just a loincloth to cover his body at -4 degree Celsius on the snow-clad ground outside Tunganath Temple, one of the highest lord Shiva temples in the world. The temple is located at the highest altitude among the Panch Kedar temples. The Shiva shrine is believed to be 1000-year-old.
Tungnath, meaning Lord of the peaks, forms the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. It is located at an altitude of 3,470 m (11,385 feet), and just below the peak of Chandrashila and is the second in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. The temple has a rich legend linked to the Pandavas, the heroes of the epic Mahabharata.
Earlier, Dibakar had hogged the limelight after he performed Surya Namaskar at Gurudongmar Lake in Sikkim. It is one of the highest lakes in the world as well as India and is situated at an elevation of 5,430 m (17,800 ft).
Dibakar said by performing yoga in such extreme conditions, he aims at spreading the rich wellness tradition of India and the Fit India Movement of the Union Government.
Dibakar has targeted to perform Yoga on Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, as his next feat, said reports.
