Extramarital affairs at the workplace are more common than one may think. As per reports, many offices have employees involved in extramarital relationships.
Owing to the long hours spent together, the co-workers are likely to end up bonding with each other and walk towards infidelity. Although Supreme Court doesn’t see extramarital affairs as a crime and only a factor for divorce, it comes with several consequences.
To keep his staff focused, a company in eastern China has banned employees from having extramarital affairs. The ban applies explicitly to married staff members, prohibits activities like having extramarital affairs or keeping mistresses, and aims to encourage family loyalty and maintain a productive work environment.
As per a report in SCMP, a company in Zhejiang, China has issued the order to its employees. The company says it aims to improve internal management, foster a culture of royalty, protect families, and enhance work focus.
Those who violate the rules will result in termination.
The company statement reads, “Anyone found violating this law will be fired. We hope all staff can have correct love values and try to become good employees with four ‘Nos’ – no illicit relationship, no mistress, no extramarital affair, and no divorce.”
The company’s statement has been applauded by a section of people while others drew ire. Some said it was a positive contribution while others said an affair is a valid reason for termination.
