There was a time when he used to work as a rickshaw puller and also sell vegetables to earn a living. Today he is a millionaire and hires IIT and IIM graduates to work for his start-up.
Meet Dilkhush Kumar, the founder, and CEO of RodBez, a company worth crores. Kumar, who hails from a remote village in Bihar, has rightly proved that working hard and not losing hope even in the worst of conditions will bring rewards someday.
Son of a bus driver, Kumar only studied till Class 12 due to lack of money. He learned to drive from his father and started driving an auto-rickshaw in New Delhi as he had to feed his family. He also sold vegetables for extra income.
While speaking to GNT Digital, Kumar said he always wanted to do something big and something of his own. So, he planned to start taxi services and started RodBez with a second-hand Tata Nano. After 6-7 months of struggles and knocking doors of investors, Kumar was able to raise funds worth Rs 4 crore.
There has been no looking back since then. RodBez is not like Uber or Ola. It is essentially a database company that connects customers with taxi drivers and provides vehicles for outstation travel of more than 50 km. Now, the company is providing service from Bihar's capital Patna to every village in the state. It plans to connect from city to city and aims to expand its services outside Bihar very soon.
Interestingly, graduates from prestigious IITs and IIMs are now working with Kumar and leaving no stone unturned to take the company to the global level.
Remembering an old incident, Kumar said, “I had been for an interview of a guard. However, I was considered unpolished and uneducated. I was asked to identify the logo of an iPhone, which I couldn’t because I was seeing an iPhone for the first time in my life.”
The RodBez reportedly pays its taxi drivers as high as Rs 55,000-60,000 salary per month.
