While people these days spend a lot of money on their weddings, a civil servant couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in Kerala. Instead of a big fat wedding, the couple-Shivam Tyagi and Arya R Nair- decided to go for a small affair wedding in the presence of family members and close friends.
The beautiful couple decided to do a noble job on their Big Day. On their Big Day, the couple instead of spending lakhs decided to sponsor the education of 20 orphan children. The couple says they couldn’t be happier on their marriage day.
Although top-class bureaucrats, the couple’s noble gesture has been going viral on social media with praises coming from all quarters. They could have spent lakhs to make lavish arrangements on their D-Day, but the lovely couple chose to take up the educational expenses of 20 orphan children.
Kids at children’s home ‘Punyam’ at Vazhoor in Kottayam, Arya’s native will be sponsored by the couple.
Their marriage was also held at sub-registrar office in Pampady as per the Special Marriages Act. However, it was not an easy job for their families to accept it who wanted a grand fat wedding.
While relatives and social media are in awe with them, it was indeed a task to convince their parents. However, they finally agreed to fulfill the wish of the beautiful couple.
Arya says, “Every relatives and friends of mine have been waiting for this day of the marriage.”
“They were all eager to have the celebration running for two to three days, as that is the prevailing trend in Kerala,” she added.
Shivam, who is posted in Ahmedabad and is from the 2020 batch said, “In coming years also, we would help the students at the orphanage to meet their education expenses. Our gesture would not be limited to the marriage occasion alone.”
The couple soon rejoined work following the wedding, with Shivam being stationed in Ahmedabad while Arya was posted in Gujarat.
Arya is currently undergoing training for Indian Revenue Service at Nagpur. She was in the news for securing 113th rank in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2020. On the other hand, Shivam Tyagi, a Delhi native, has been posted as the superintendent of the Indian Postal Service.
