In a major jolt to its employees, an American cybersecurity company laid off at least 13% of its workforce after throwing a lavish party for all the employees.
The employees who were seen enjoying the party went jobless in just a few days and had to seek help for jobs on Twitter. Many of them took to their Twitter handles to share their ordeal and requested job offers online.
According to a report in TechCruch, at least 50 employees have been fired by the company. The bizarre tactic by Bishop Fox, a cybersecurity firm received serious backlash from netizens, after hosting a lavish party with branded drinks.
Social media users brutally slammed the firm for its insensitivity. Even as the firm spent a whopping amount of money in the lavish party, it could not save the job of its employees, reports said.
An employee took to Twitter and wrote, “Hello Friends! Due to some very unexpected layoffs at Bishop Fox today, I’m now looking for a new role. I’d appreciate any signal boosts, connections, advice or opportunities you could pint me in the direction of. Thanks.”
Another wrote, “Hi Twitter family. Couldn’t find the words earlier, but due to unexpected layoffs at Bishop Fox today I’m looking for a new opportunity. If you have something you think I’d be a great fit for, please send it my way! Much love to my fellow ex foxes in the same boat.”
A third employee wrote, “Hello everyone, I have been laid off from Bishop Fox as of today due to internal restructuring. If anyone has any potential jobs they could send my way, please let me know! And to anyone else that is also looking, please feel free to reach out if you need support!”
On the other hand, Bishop Fox refused to disclose the money spent on the party. However, the company maintained that the employees were fired because of the internal restructuring.
