A YouTube motivational speaker, who preached about living an honest life and staying away from crime, was arrested by Bharatpur police on August 14 for allegedly committing a burglary at Khandagiri Bari in Bhubaneswar. The accused has been identified as Manoj Singh, a resident of Cuttack.
Preacher by Day, Thief by Night
Manoj ran a YouTube channel called “CHANGE YOUR LIFE,” where he regularly uploaded motivational videos on discipline and avoiding illegal activities. Ironically, behind the camera, he was actively involved in multiple thefts, misleading his followers while building an image as a preacher online.
The Arrest and Seizure
Police launched an investigation after a theft was reported at a residence in Khandagiri Bari. Tracking Manoj’s movements, they arrested him and recovered 200 grams of gold, over Rs 1 lakh in cash, a motorbike, and the iron rod used during the burglary.
Victim Speaks Out
The homeowner recounted the shock of the incident, saying: “ Without our presence where I was at my office and my husband was at a meeting, When my husband returned home at 2PM, the main door and locker room were broken. All our gold ornaments and Rs 5 lakh in cash were gone. If we had stored our valuables in a bank locker, this could have been avoided. My message for your family’s safety, keep your valuables secure.”
Police Advisory
Police confirmed Manoj had been under surveillance for weeks. They urged the public to remain cautious and verify online personalities, stressing that appearances can often be deceiving.
