Festive celebrations turned tragic in Subarnapur village under Banki police station limits when a young man collapsed and died of suspected heart attack' while dancing to DJ music during an idol immersion ceremony.
According to eyewitnesses, the youth was enthusiastically dancing in front of the DJ sound system as the immersion procession was underway. Suddenly, he complained of sharp pain in his chest, staggered, and collapsed to the ground.
Alarmed by the incident, fellow villagers rushed to his aid and immediately shifted him to the Banki Sub-Divisional Hospital. Despite their efforts to save him, doctors declared him dead.

Preliminary medical opinion suggests that the cause of death was a heart attack.
“After the check-up, we learnt that the patient had died. He was already dead. As per his attendants, he was drunk and was dancing to the DJ music during Visarjan when he collapsed. He defecated and urinated too,” informed Dr. Soumya Mohanty of Banki SDH.
“He was first taken to Saranda PHC, from where he was referred here to Banki. However, I declared him dead. Police information has been sent, and his body is currently in the mortuary for a post-mortem. The post-mortem will be done tomorrow. Due to the DJ's sound, he has most probably died due to cardiac arrest,” the doctor added.
