Working to achieve Centre’s vision to eradicate left wing extremism by 2026: Odisha DGP

The Odisha Police is working hard to meet the target to eradicate left wing extremism by March 31, 2026, said DGP YB Khurania on Monday.

While talking to reporters on the sidelines of Police Smriti Diwas at Odisha Police Headquarters in Cuttack, DGP Khurania said that the state police has registered a huge success in tackling the left wing extremism.

Earlier, Union home minister Amit Shah had stated that the central government is committed to completely eliminate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) from the country by March 31, 2026.

According to the DGP, the Odisha Police is gearing up in this direction and is hopeful of achieving the target. 

“It has been already said that those who are associated with the rebels to shun violence and return to the main stream. The Odisha Government has a good surrender policy and there is adequate provision for their rehabilitation. At a time when the country is marching towards development, there is no need on part of the Maoists to indulge in such activities,” said Khurania.
