Several women staged a road blockade at Hatibadi village under Raigarh block of Gajapati district on Thursday in protest of being deprived of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana of the Odisha government.

As a result, road communication along the road was severely affected. Hundreds of vehicles on both the sides of the road were stranded due to the protest.

The women eventually withdrew their protest after the local Tehsildar and other officials of the district administration reached the spot and assured them of financial assistance under the scheme.

“We are poor people. However, we are yet to get money under the Subhadra scheme. We were forced to stage a protest as we have not received the assistance,” said a protestor.
