Woman jumps into Kharasrota River in Odisha’s Jajpur, rescue ops on

A woman reportedly jumped into the Kharasrota River from a bridge in the Baruan area under Jajpur Sadar limits. The woman left her electric scooter, helmet, and mobile phone on the bridge before taking the plunge. 

According to her Aadhar card, she has been identified as Mandakini Samal, a resident of Madhuban Krishnapada area under the Kuakhia police jurisdiction. 

Local sources said that she may be an Anganwadi employee and that her decision to jump into the river could be related to family disputes.

According to sources, her family has been informed by the police. However, no one had arrived at the scene (till this piece was published). Both her father and husband have also been informed. 

The Jajpur Sadar police have seized the woman's belongings and are conducting an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Fire Department has deployed rescue teams to search for her.
