Woman 'dies of cardiac arrest' after stepson's 'suicide' in Odisha

In a tragic incident, a woman allegedly died of cardiac arrest at Baragan panchayat under Kantamal block of Boudh district on Tuesday hours after her stepson ended his life by consuming poison. 

The deceased were identified as Sushant Haripal and his stepmother Poin Haripal. 

Sushant was staying at a relative’s house in Rajenai village of Kandhamal district and consumed poison on Monday. He was admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Phulbani where he died while undergoing treatment. 

His stepmother was staying at Kantamal when she received the news. After hearing the news, she was grief-stricken and reportedly suffered a heart stroke, leading to her death.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves in the area.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the suicide of the youth.
