“I will work wholeheartedly for Congress if the party lifts the suspension clamped on me,” Routray declared. Despite believing that the party wronged him, he still remains open to reconciliation, although he has yet to engage in dialogue with the new PCC chief.

Routray's optimism about his reinstatement has grown following the party's decision of lifting the suspension of Manas Choudhury, which has rekindled similar hopes in his case.

The veteran leader pointed out that, as of now, there has been no attempt from Bhakta Das to initiate a conversation on this matter. Routray has also not indulged in a dialogue yet.

The Congress party's decision to suspend Routaray during the previous elections left many questioning the implications for the party's senior leadership and their strategies moving forward.

“Congress is my temple and my deity is Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s family, and now Rahul Gandhi,” the senior leader Routray said while speaking to mediapersons.

“I have not yet spoken to him (the PCC chief). However, he has asserted to carry all older leaders of Congress with him. Welcome! All should be carried. I have worked for the party since 1962, when Bhakta Das was not even born,” Suresh Routray stated.

“If Bhakta Das wants, Sonia Gandhi wants, Kharge wants, and Rahul Gandhi wants, I will certainly return. I have no objection,” the senior leader expressed.
