Widow raped, blackmailed by supply assistant in Bolangir

In a shocking incident, a supply assistant has allegedly raped a widow at Budula gram panchayat under Agalpur police station in Bolangir.

As per the allegation by the woman, she is also being blackmailed by accused Girish Chandra Sahu.

The matter came to the fore after the victim went to the panchayat office on October 31 and allegedly thrashed Sahu with her sandal. The video of the incident has gone viral over various social media platforms.

Based on the complaint of the woman, Agalpur police has registered a case in this connection and started an investigation into the incident.

The accused are reportedly on the run.

“Based on the complaint of the woman at Agalpur police station, we have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. The statement of the woman has been recorded before the Magistrate. We have formed a team to arrest the accused who are on the run. More information about the incident could be divulged after further investigation,” said Bolangir SDPO Pradip Kumar Sahu.
