Patients and their attendants at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) faced a harrowing time as water supply to one of the buildings was snapped following technical snag in a motor pump set at the hospital on Wednesday.
According to sources, water supply to the MCH building of the hospital, where the Obstetrics and Gynaecology ward is located, got interrupted after a motor pump set malfunctioned.
Sans water supply since Wednesday night, patients and their attendants were left with no option other than going outside to fetch water, sources informed.

“As there is no water supply, we have to leave the patient alone and go outside to get some water. Neither there is water supply in the bathroom, nor drinking water. We have informed this about the security personnel deployed here,” said an attendant.
Expressing displeasure over the 'poor management' at the hospital, another attendant said, “My wife has been admitted to the hospital since 26th September. She has been in the labour ward since last night. Due to the unavailability of water, she cannot even use the bathroom. For drinking water, we have to make a beeline.”
Till the last report came in, the motor pump was fixed and the water supply to the building had resumed.
No comments from the hospital authorities could be obtained over the matter.
