Waiting for bus, woman crushed to death by speeding vehicle in Odisha's Nayagarh

In a heart-wrenching incident, a woman lost her life after she was run over by a speeding bus while waiting at a bus stop at Karadapalli village under Khandapara police limits in Nayagarh district. The tragic road mishap triggered outrage in the area as angry locals blocked the highway.

They placed the deceased woman’s body on the road and staged a protest, demanding necessary compensation for the deceased’s family members.

As per reports, the woman was waiting to catch a bus at her village bus stop. Meanwhile, a private passenger bus en route to Khandapara from Baghamari ran over her due to the alleged reckless driving of the driver.

The vehicle crushed the woman, killing her on the spot. Her death triggered outrage as angry locals caught hold of the driver and thrashed him black and blue.

Tension prevailed in the area until local police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The body was seized and later sent for autopsy. A case has been registered and the driver was detained by the cops.
