A wagon of another coal-laden goods train caught fire near Radhakishorepur station in Athagarh of Cuttack district on late Saturday night. As per initial reports, smoke was first detected at around 3 am. The coal-laden goods train was on its way to Khordha from Talcher. The freight train had arrived at the Radhakishorepur station at 8 pm yesterday.
The exact reason behind the cause of fire is unclear. There was a delay of one hour in carrying out operation to douse the flames as no clearance was given to cut over-head power -supply. Later, a team of Odisha Fire Services Department personnel doused the flames after an intense operation.
On June 10, a wagon of a coal-laden goods train parked at Rupsa Station in Balasore had also caught fire. The train was stationed at the platform since Friday night.
However, as soon as the day broke, some people noticed smoke coming out from one of the wagons. Earlier, a goods train laden with coal had also caught fire in a similar fashion on Friday night at Balugaon railway station.
