Villagers of Kudiari under Odisha’s Jatni tehsil staged a road blockade on the main road connecting Khordha and Pipili, demanding the construction of a permanent Revenue Inspector (RI) office and urgent repair of the damaged road in their area.

The villagers alleged that despite repeated demands, the local administration turned a blind eye to their request for an RI office.

The residents had earlier opposed the proposal to set up the RI office at Rathipur village under Jatni block. They had insisted that it should be located at Kudiari since the village falls under the jurisdiction of Jatni municipality.

Tehsildar Assures Resolution Within A Month

Jatni Tehsildar Pritiparna Mishra visited the protest site and assured villagers that their demands would be addressed. “We have spoken to them and have taken time duration of one month to locate a feasible and approachable location to set up the RI office.”

He continued: “We had earlier looked for areas but could not find any as all the places shortlisted by us back then turned out to be under sub judice of Orissa High Court. That is why we had set up an office at Rathipur. But now based on people's demand, we will soon select an area and set up an office,” she said.

Temporary Road Repair

A villager Sudarshan Sundar Ray said, "The Tehsildar visited us and assured that a Revenue Inspector would be appointed within a month, and a new RI office would be constructed in Kudiari after identifying a suitable location.

“Regarding the poor road condition, the Executive Engineer from the R&B Department has assured, upon the request of BJP leader Lulu Badajena, that a temporary asphalt road will be laid, considering the current weather," he added.
