UTPs’ escape from Odisha jail: Warden suspended for dereliction of duty

DIG (prisons) Kulamani Behera and Bolangir jail’s Superintendent investigated the incident on Monday. The DIG admitted that the inmates escaped due to the negligence of jail authorities and hinted at action against those responsible.

The jail warden of Titlagarh sub-jail in Bolangir was suspended for dereliction of duty on Tuesday; three days after two under-trial prisoners (UTPs) managed to escape. The two UTPs are yet to be traced.

The incident was investigated by DIG (prisons) Kulamani Behera along with Bolangir jail’s Superintendent. The DIG admitted that the inmates escaped due to the negligence of jail authorities and hinted at action against those responsible.
