The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Bhubaneswar, Jagmohan Meena, confirmed on Thursday that the situation at Lower PMG has been brought under control following disturbances that resulted in injuries to 12 police officers.
DCP Meena assured, “Order has been restored, and the area is now secure.”

An investigation is currently underway, with police reviewing the CCTV footage from the protest site to ascertain further details. “After the investigation, appropriate actions will be taken,” reiterated DCP Jagmohan Meena in a presser held in Bhubaneswar.

“Forces have still been deployed at all the barricades. As per the information we have, 12 police personnel were injured in the incident and were later sent to hospital for treatment,” the Bhubaneswar DCP said while speaking to mediapersons.
“A vehicle was intercepted by the agitators on its way and the vehicle driver managed to get rid of the awkward situation. However, partial damage was caused to the vehicle in the incident and we will probe into it,” DCP Meena stated in the presser.
“We will gather information from our officers who were present on the ground (on the spot). Discussions will be held with those officials deployed at de-barricaded spots. We will also gather information from eyewitnesses and verify CCTV footage. Based on these, actions will be taken against the wrongdoers,” the senior cop expressed.
Earlier in the day, Bhubaneswar witnessed high-voltage political drama as Congress workers clashed with the police during their protest march towards Odisha Assembly. The situation at Lower PMG quickly escalated into chaos, turning the area into a virtual battlefield.

Congress workers allegedly resorted to stone pelting, targeting policemen with bricks and stones. Eggs, tomatoes, and water bottles were also hurled at security forces, intensifying the unrest. Some protesters even threw chairs, further escalating tensions.
